TRANSCENDENCE

The drawing “Transcendence” is part of a series titled “Art about Art,” through which I explore various facets of my artistic practice.
Michelangelo’s iconic fresco, “The Creation of Adam,” depicts the moment God imparts life to Adam, the first man, with their fingers nearly touching. Some scholars interpret this gap as a symbol of the distance between divine perfection and human imperfection. In my reinterpretation, I place a pencil between their hands, connecting the divine and the human. The pencil serves as a metaphor for the creative process, suggesting that art has the power to bridge the gap between our human limitations and a sense of something greater.
