PORTRAIT OF A COUPLE
Graphite and charcoal on paper
29.7 x 21.0 cm
This drawing captures a couple floating in water, evoking an almost otherworldly scene where both connection and individuality coexist. . The man’s intense, focused gaze draws us in, while the woman’s dreamy, contemplative expression suggests she’s lost in her own thoughts. There’s a subtle tension in the way their expressions differ, adding an air of quiet mystery to the scene.
What drew me to this composition was the desire to portray something different than the usual, often idealized representations of couples. In most portraits, we see affection and unity, but that’s only part of the story. In reality, relationships are built not just on what brings us together, but on the differences we learn to embrace.
